There’s an upgraded pocket clip with 4-way positioning for tip up/down carry and left/right handed. Required fields are marked *. I've finally decided to pop on a spyderco para2 after quite some time. Custom Made for PM2 Spyderco Para-Military PM c81 Green Glow Carbon Fiber and Resin Backspacer EDCacord. The Para 2 has an overall length of 8.3″, a 3.4″ blade, weighs 3.75 ounces, and is made in the USA. I must not be alone in finding the Para 2 on the large side, because in 2017 Spyderco released the Paramilitary 3. God Bless! I was a bit skeptical to try this knife because I know I like thin blade-stock thinly-ground slicers (like Boker Plus Exskelibur 1 or Spyderco Stretch 2), and this doesn t seem to be that kind of a knife at a glance. Could agree more brother EO! It has a premium full flat ground plain edge blade which is manufactured with the remarkable S30V steel as standard. Spyderco Paramilitary 2 Gray G-10 Knife C81GPDGY2 Stonewash Maxamet Blade -Dealr. The Para Military 2 family puts the reliable capabilities of Spyderco… The blade stock is 3.5 mm (0.141 inches), which would usually be a bit too much for me on a 3.5 inch knife, but Spyderco did a great … He founded the site in 2010, and for the first 5 years Dan wrote all of the reviews and recorded all of the video reviews. Ahh yes. I am not completely sold on S35VN, but CTS-XHP would be interesting as an alternative to S30V. Quality is typical Spyderco which is to say it is top notch. ACHIEVED!! He is recognized as an authority on daily carry knives and has consulted with knife companies on product design. It practically super-glues your thumb in place without being so toothy it’s uncomfortable. Review: Spyderco Paramilitary 2 S110V "Sharpest Knife From Factory, But Do You Even Blurple??" I think the Para 2 is an awesome knife. When I have come across this PM II, I notice the blade is thinner from the spec when it was put up for sale then..so I still opt for the classic without noticing the more ergonomic design on the PM II. We had a short exchange on another review about this knife, and in my shopping I have come across a potentially decent deal on the SV110 version. So strap in and lets explore why this USA Made gem continues to hit all the buttons for edged enthusiasts. I can say that everything I read about their DLC coating was favorable, and I love my satin finished version. The blade comes razor sharp and thanks to the Premium Quality S100V steel, it holds that edge for a very long time. I can’t find anything to complain about it at all — mine was perfect out of the box — the only problem is having to decide to carry it or the Kershaw Skyline for my smaller EDC knife! That answers my question well enough…If SV30 is already plenty to be a useful tool, then I’d rather use the extra money elsewhere. The Para Military 2 can be pressed into very hard use, borderline abusive tasks, and it can be a daily companion to open up packages and the like. All in all, handle construction is top notch. Since its introduction in 2010, the Spyderco Paramilitary 2 has been a favorite EDC knife—and it seems like as time goes on, the knife only gains in its cult popularity. The handle and blade have been profile thinner; removing uncomfortable angles when in the closed position. If you get a concealed carry permit you can carry pretty much whatever you want, fixed blades, large folders, etc. The Para 2 is not so big. However, VG-10 is a totally fine steel for most EDC tasks. Backing up that oversized thumb hole is a pair of large phosphor bronze washers. These washers are very smooth and only get better as the knife breaks in. The jimping is just phenomenal on this knife. Spyderco always has knives with weird blade-to-handle ratios. One can get it now with either the Titanium or Carbon Fiber handle also. Might have to add this to the small but growing collection. Shop our complete collection of PM2 models and accessories below. I’d say if you can get a decent deal on it go right ahead. The other knives are babies to hold between two fingers ! I will keep it instead of using it! My pleasure Alex, glad you have been enjoying your Para 2. The Spyderco Paramilitary 2 in S110V steel is one of the best EDC knives ever. Since its release, the Spyderco Paramilitary 2 has been one of our best selling Spyderco knives. Free shipping. A stainless type of steel that is very popular amongst enthusiasts. Never mind, will grab this later when I got the chance again! Ben wrote a full review on it. The ergonomics on the Para 2 are outstanding. Another thing I really like about the compression lock is how easy it is to disengage with one hand. From shop PacificSons. It easily makes my best EDC knives list and receives my highest endorsement. Very interesting Shannon! Read honest and unbiased product reviews from our users. From shop EDCacord. I knife I wanted so bad that I actually travelled across the Atlantic to Smyrna, Georgia just to pick it up. But never mind because I trusted Spyderco for their design, folder making process & selection of materials associated with it! Anyhow, thanks for the report. Thanks so much man. I agree that it is a very comfortable knife – thanks for stopping by! For the time being a premium version of the knife in S110V with blurple scales is available (apparently as a non-sprint run on Spyderco’s regular lineup for the foreseeable future). There is no blade play of any kind with my knife, and the compression lock is easy to use with one hand. Glad you like yours too – it’s hard to find much to dislike about the knife. This makes the knife infinitely fun to manipulate. It’s no surprise that this is the EDC of a lot of serious knife collectors. S90V is also not fun to sharpen in the field. I generally feel more comfortable carrying a 3″ or under blade here from a legal standpoint (and a “deadly force” standpoint). It’s large and has a bright satin finish. The handle scales are Diamond Arc textured. Hi Dan! 4-way Clip. Plus, getting the knife with DLC might allow that huge clip to be more discreet too (that is an important factor for me). Everything else about the PM2 is absolutely perfect. If you decide to get one I hope you like it. Hi Dan, Spyderco has released a number of sprint runs of the Paramilitary 2 over the years in a wide range of exotic steels and handle colors. Viola! I don’t want to lavish too much praise because I must admit a bias. All Rights Reserved, I’m consistently astounded at how sharp Spyderco is able to get its factory production knives to be. Dan is the creator of BladeReviews.com. Like all our knives with CPM S110V blades, the textured G-10 handle scales of this version of the Para Military 2 sport a distinctive dark blue color. The Spyderco Military was introduced in the early 1990’s by Sal Glesser as a knife designed to be carried by military personnel. I had expected better build quality in a $100 U.S. made knife but that one gripe aside I am very impressed with this thing. That's one of the reasons I … It’s a form follows function design with great cutting ability, great ergonomics, and that difficult to describe “X” factor that keeps people coming back year after year. Dan – thanks for this in depth review. I have heard great things about Spyderco’s DLC coatings – I agree, it does look special. Only complaint is the knife is not perfectly centered, but it's not even close to rubbing the scales. As always thanks for the great comment. That would make the knife more discreet in your pocket. This is for very good reason. Oh and I will take my Para 2 apart and make a picture of the compression lock to add to the review – excellent idea! He grew up using pocket knives, and the decision to start the website stemmed from his fascination of all things sharp combined with a deep passion for writing. And I really do mean oversized. This is my first review of a knife with a compression lock, and my impressions of the mechanism are extremely favorable. This Sprint Run Para Military 2 knife has a premium CPM-S45VN flat ground blade with a plain cutting edge. Best High Value Knives. The liners have been milled out somewhat to reduce the weight, and at 3.75 ounces the knife is very light overall. So to speak..the 3 Spydie travel back to KL from US (Junior) via China (Senior), then brought back by the Senior and presented to me!
